On Saturday, May 12, local hunger heroes will help Stamp Out Hunger in the Ozarks by placing bags of nonperishable food items near their mailboxes. Throughout the day, letter carriers will pick up the bags and deliver them to Ozarks Food Harvest’s food pantries, which help hungry people across southwest Missouri.
Each year, Arvest Bank challenges bank associates, customers and community members to participate in raising funds and food donations to help feed neighbors in need.
Area Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are true Hunger Heroes. For the past 29 years, the Scouts have been collecting food during their Scouting for Food drive, and this year they will do it again.
When the excitement from the holidays starts to fade, families still continue to struggle with hunger in our community. Unfortunately during this time, food and fund drives start to die down.
Springfield Public Schools will participate in Food Fight 2018, Ozarks Food Harvest’s 7th annual district-wide food drive competition, Jan. 15 – 31.
This year, Walmart’s nationwide Fight Hunger. Spark Change. initiative provided 218 million meals to Feeding America food banks across the country. Ozarks Food Harvest was awarded $125,000 to fight hunger right here in the Ozarks.
The National Association of Letter Carriers rallied the community to take action against hunger during the 25th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive on May 13. Springfield carriers collected 221,466 pounds of food to be distributed to those facing hunger in southwest Missouri.
Nearly 60 area grocery stores partnered with Ozarks Food Harvest for Check Out Hunger 2016, raising $45,482 to provide nearly 182,000 meals to people in need across southwest Missouri.
