Community partnerships crucial to Hunger Action Month

Community partnerships crucial to Hunger Action Month

October 9, 2024 in Harvest Time Newsletter

Each September, Ozarks Food Harvest celebrates Hunger Action Month, the annual advocacy campaign to raise awareness about hunger in the Ozarks and inspire action in the community – but nothing inspires action quite like the community itself.

Community partnerships are so crucial to this month-long campaign to raise funds for the Weekend Backpack Program. They consist of local businesses and organizations who host fund drives, offer special promotions and raise awareness. This September, you may have tried the specially selected sandwich at The Sandwich Scene, donated to Gold Mountain Communications’ food and fund drive, or participated in the multitude of other opportunities provided by our partners: Five Pound Apparel, Best of Luck Beer Hall, The Coffee Ethic, Dance Mission, Holmes & Griffeth Financial Planners, Krispy Kreme, Mama Jean’s, McDonald’s, Mercy, Neighbors Mill, Papa Johns, Panera, Smithfield Foods, and Vital Farms.

Without these partners, our Weekend Backpack Program would support hundreds fewer children who need this critical, life-changing program. Thank you to everyone who donated food and funds or attended a Hunger Action Month event this September! Community support is the reason we can provide weekend meals to nearly 1,700 children every week who would otherwise go without.

Special thanks to Hunger Action Month presenting sponsor Central Bank for being a steadfast and generous partner in the fight to end hunger. Their unique Be a Hunger Champion food and fund drive involved employees and bank patrons alike.

If you missed Hunger Action Month, you don’t have to wait until next September to get involved. Give us a call at 417-865-3411 to learn how your business or organization can help us Transform Hunger into Hope during the holiday season and beyond.
