Volunteers at the United Community Help Center have been helping and encouraging people in Licking for many years. The food pantry serves about 120 families each month with USDA food provided by Ozarks Food Harvest, and they also provide emergency food assistance as needed. The organization also houses a thrift store.
The gift of a long-term commitment to Ozarks Food Harvest is an excellent way to express your support for hunger-relief efforts in the Ozarks. There are so many ways to make a planned gift, and doing so will help leave your legacy and ensure the mission of The Food Bank is secure.
In 2020, thousands of donors stepped up to support The Food Bank. Individuals showed their support by making donations, hosting fundraisers, collecting nonperishable food and volunteering with us throughout the year.
Several years ago, Jeff and his wife Margaret joined the Reaching Independence through Support and Education (RISE) program through the Drew Lewis Foundation. RISE originated with the Northwest Project, a fiveyear campaign to pilot anti-poverty strategies in Springfield neighborhoods. The couple had been living in survival mode, feeling overwhelmed by the bills that remained unpaid at the end of every month.
This month, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight the work of several of the churches that volunteer with The Food Bank on a monthly basis. We’re extremely grateful for the members of Campbell UMC’s Faith for Life group, King’s Way UMC and Wesley UMC for the time they have spent providing meals through Ozarks Food Harvest.
