Since 2011, Gold Mountain Communications’ partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest has provided nearly 94,000 meals. Volunteer groups like the Gold Mountain Communications team help make Transforming Hunger into Hope possible.

Based in Springfield, Missouri, Gold Mountain Communications offers inbound and outbound call services to clients. Janell Scott, Vice President of Brand Engagement and Talent Acquisition, says they want to make sure they’re giving back to the community that has supported them.

“The best thing you can give is your time and your attention, and we happily make that investment to keep us grounded and connected,” said Janell.

A longtime partnership with Gold Mountain Communications has made a significant impact on hunger-relief efforts here in the Ozarks. Gold Mountain works with Ozarks Food Harvest during Hunger Action Month to host the annual Go Orange Food and Fund Drive that benefits the Weekend Backpack Program and folks in the community facing hunger.

“I think that people would be shocked if they knew how many kiddos need food over the weekend to sustain them until they get back to a hot breakfast and lunch at school,” Janell shared. “I think they would be more shocked to know that for a few hundred dollars you can sponsor a kiddo for a year.”

Janell said that she has had truly impactful experiences while volunteering. While volunteering, a woman approached her and shared how Ozarks Food Harvest, as well as other services within the community, had supported her family in a time of need. After completing her shopping, the woman came out and donated one hundred dollars to the Go Orange Food and Fund Drive.

Speaking about her experiences volunteering, Janell shared “You just can’t put a price tag on how it feels when you put your time and your energy somewhere that’s for a good cause. It makes you feel great. It’s one of the best days.”

This year, Gold Mountain volunteers were at both Hy-Vee locations in Springfield and collected food and fund donations. All funds collected supported the Weekend Backpack Program, and food donations helped feed children, families and seniors facing hunger in southwest Missouri. Janell shared that some team members have generously volunteered at the warehouse after learning more about Ozarks Food Harvest and helping with the store front drive.

Gold Mountain’s support of Ozarks Food Harvest doesn’t stop with the storefront drives. Throughout the month of September, Janell shared that Gold Mountain continues to support Ozarks Food Harvest by collecting donations in the office, as well as sharing the link to the online giving platform with their clients to get even more folks involved. This September, the Gold Mountain team’s efforts provided 6,785 meals.

Ozarks Food Harvest thanks each Gold Mountain volunteer who has generously supported the Weekend Backpack Program and our neighbors facing hunger. Your continued support and generosity have helped our efforts to end hunger in the Ozarks.
