Help SPS Raise Food and Funds for Families During Food Fight

February 7, 2024 in Food drive Get Involved Uncategorized

Help Springfield Public Schools raise food and funds by partnering with a local school for Ozarks Food Harvest’s 13th annual Food Fight on March 18-29, 2024.

Food Fight is an annual two-week competitive food and fund drive between multiple SPS schools and their partner organizations to provide meals for the 1 in 7 children and adults facing hunger in southwest Missouri. Funds raised will provide meals for children experiencing hunger through Ozarks Food Harvest’s Weekend Backpack Program, and food donations will help serve Springfield families seeking food assistance. The elementary, middle and high schools that collect the most food and funds per student will be named 2024 Food Fight Champs.

Schools can sign up for Food Fight here.

Partners are needed! You can help provide meals on behalf of your partner school to help them become Food Fight champions. Here’s how.

Businesses, churches and organizations:
• Raise funds – Every dollar raised will help provide three meals. Each school and partner team will have an online fundraising page. Donate and share the link to your fundraiser page on social media! You can also host a traditional fund drive to collect cash and change.
• Collect food – If you would rather host a food drive, we have collection barrels and signs for you. Please pick up your supplies and deliver your donations to The Food Bank.

Retail stores:
• Ask customers to round up at the register.
• Accept $1, $3 or $5 donations at the register with our custom UPC trifold.
• Offer a featured item and donate part of the proceeds.
