Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Break: Get Involved with Summer Harvest

May 23, 2024 in Get Involved

Did you know more families turn to Ozarks Food Harvest’s hunger-relief network when kids go on summer break? Thousands of children across the Ozarks rely on nutritious school meals during the school year, but when school is out, they worry about where their next meal will come from.

Help us connect children and their families to nourishing meals this summer through our Summer Harvest campaign, presented by Pinegar Honda.

Ozarks Food Harvest works to end child hunger through our Summer Food Program, Mobile Food Pantries and our network of 270 faith-based and community charities in southwest Missouri. Your support will help fill the gaps for children and families facing hunger this summer.

There are several ways to get involved in Summer Harvest this year:

Splash and Sizzle, May 27 – September 4. Admission to all outdoor Springfield-Greene County Park Board pools is $1 or free when you bring one canned food item per person.

Tremendicon, May 31 – June 2. Enjoy this three-day creators’ convention while helping end hunger in southwest Missouri. A portion of proceeds will benefit Ozarks Food Harvest.

Receive a free car wash when you make a donation to The Food Bank, and enter into a raffle to win a hand-painted KC Chiefs lamp with a donation of $10 or more.

Ozarks Food Harvest month at Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, June 1 – June 30. Blood donors can help their donation go further by dedicating their LifePoints to Ozarks Food Harvest during the month of June. CBCO will convert donated points to cash and make a donation to Ozarks Food Harvest.

• United Way Day of Caring Food Drive, June 13. Volunteers from local businesses will be collecting food and funds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Springfield Hy-Vee locations to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest. Stop by to say hi and donate money and nonperishable food items.
