Introducing Ozarks Food Harvest’s First Volunteer Ambassadors

July 24, 2024 in Volunteer Spotlight

This summer, we’re celebrating seven generous volunteers who’ve been selected for their passion and dedication to be a part of Ozarks Food Harvest’s new Volunteer Ambassador Program!

It’s every charity’s dream to have volunteers who are so enthusiastic about their mission that they become advocates for the organization. Ozarks Food Harvest is lucky to have many. The Volunteer Ambassador Program was developed to recognize individuals who have the energy, commitment and desire to do more for their neighbors, and give them the opportunity to delve deeper into hunger relief efforts.

Volunteer Ambassadors help Ozarks Food Harvest engage with the community by serving as representatives at community events, speaking engagements and volunteer sessions. One of the best ways to end hunger in southwest Missouri is to raise awareness, and we know Betsy and Mario Esquivel, Mary Keidle, Mary Magnus, Cindy McDonough, Amy Viets-Cooper and Lona Wait have what it takes be representatives for The Food Bank.

Mary Magnus explained why she’s taking on this new volunteer opportunity, “I found it interesting when I would talk to people and they didn’t know what Ozarks Food Harvest is, so I’m hoping being a volunteer ambassador will help spread the word.”

For Cindy McDonough, she’s hoping to motivate new volunteers to join the fight to end hunger. She shared, “So many people who volunteer are retired. I think it’s so important that Ozarks Food Harvest doesn’t age out of willing and enthusiastic volunteers. The Food Bank is a necessary resource for so many people.”

Thank you so much to our new Volunteer Ambassadors for helping raise awareness of Ozarks Food Harvest and hunger in southwest Missouri. Our volunteers have so much to contribute, and serving as Ambassadors will only deepen their impact in the fight to end hunger.

Thank you as well to the hundreds more volunteers who return several times per year, month or even week to donate their time at The Food Bank. Many of these volunteers spread the word and come back with friends, family and coworkers to make a difference together. We’re grateful to be chosen by each and every one of you.
