Springfield Rotary clubs hosted a Rotary Feeds the Ozarks volunteer day at Ozarks Food Harvest on June 27. Eighty-eight volunteers sorted nearly 19,000 pounds of food and assembled 591 senior food boxes. Together, this will provide 32,374 meals for children, families and seniors in the Ozarks.

“Rotary is an important partner to Ozarks Food Harvest,” said Bart Brown, President/CEO of The Food Bank. “Over the years, Rotary clubs have purchased three Mobile Food Pantry trucks for The Food Bank, as well as provided thousands of volunteer hours. It was amazing to see the Rotary clubs unite through service as an example of their motto of ‘service above self.’”

The Rotary clubs are also supporting Ozarks Food Harvest through the first-ever North-South Food Fight competition through the end of July.

The goal is for each regional Rotary to accumulate points by volunteering and donating money or food to The Food Bank or other organizations that provide food for hungry Missourians. Ozarks-area Rotary clubs will donate to Ozarks Food Harvest.

Springfield Rotary clubs are groups of local professionals bonded by values of fellowship, service to the community and a deep commitment to acting on those ideals.

The groups approach projects like Rotary Feeds the Ozarks with a positive attitude and encourage family members and non-Rotarians to participate in these efforts in order to strengthen the Springfield community as a whole.
