Stamp Out Hunger with Local Letter Carriers

April 24, 2018 in Food drive

On Saturday, May 12, local hunger heroes will help Stamp Out Hunger in the Ozarks by placing bags of nonperishable food items near their mailboxes. Throughout the day, letter carriers will pick up the bags and deliver them to Ozarks Food Harvest’s food pantries, which help hungry people across southwest Missouri.

Over the past 25 years, Stamp Out Hunger, the largest single-day food drive in America, has collected over one billion pounds of food nationwide. Last year, the National Association of Letter Carriers collected nearly 225,000 pounds of food in the Ozarks.

All of the local donations will benefit Ozarks Food Harvest’s agency partners such as Crosslines, Salvation Army, Least of These and more.

Most needed donations include tuna and salmon, peanut butter, beans, soup and stews, boxed meals, rice and pasta, canned fruit and vegetables and cereal. No glass containers, please.

Don’t forget to set your bag of nonperishable food items by your mailbox on May 12. To learn more about Stamp Out Hunger 2018, visit stampouthungerfooddrive.us.
