Support The Weekend Backpack Program

July 11, 2017 in Get Involved

The weekend should be a time for children to play and relax, but unfortunately there are kids right here in the Ozarks who worry about whether or not they will have food to eat at home on Saturday and Sunday.

The Food Bank’s Weekend Backpack Program provides food insecure children with a bag of food to take home each Friday of the school year. More than 1,670 children in 60 schools benefit from this program.

Since 1999, Kevin and Liz on iHeartRadio’s 105.9 KGBX, formerly on Alice 95.5, have hosted Hungerthon, a radio-thon fundraiser for the Weekend Backpack Program. In 2016, during Hunger Action Month, Hungerthon raised $140,447 to support 468 kids. This year’s event will take place Sept. 8-11.

Will you consider partnering with us to help ensure that children will have meals to eat? Find out how to get involved by downloading our Weekend Backpack booklet.
