Artists: Make an impact through Empty Bowls

April 21, 2017 in Get Involved

Ozarks Food Harvest is partnering with Panera Bread for Empty Bowls 2017. The annual event, set for Sept. 29, raises awareness of hunger in southwest Missouri.

For a donation to OFH, event-goers receive soup, a baguette and art to take home. The creations, ranging from pottery to carved wood, are meant to serve as a reminder of the thousands of “empty bowls” found on dinner tables across the Ozarks each night.

Vital Farms to donate 1 million eggs by 2016

November 12, 2016 in Food Bank News

It is no secret that eggs are a nutritional source of protein.

However, sources of protein continue to remain on Ozarks Food Harvest’s list of most-needed items. For people with allergies, a jar of peanut butter is not an option and meat is not always available.

Denise Gibson: Thanks, Ozarks, for support

October 14, 2015 in From Denise's Desk Harvest Time Newsletter

Denise 10This year’s Hunger Action Month was one of the best yet. We had more outreach and fundraising events than ever before, and you really stepped up to help Ozarks Food Harvest.

Our friends at iHeartMedia did an incredible job with Hungerthon, new to 105.9 KGBX this year. It was certainly a highlight of Hunger Action Month. Over $125,000 was raised for the Weekend Backpack Program to give area children food over the weekend when school lunches aren’t available and they might otherwise go hungry. Over the four day ratio-thon, I watched Kevin and Liz put in long hours sharing with listeners exactly why it is so crucial that they donate to this program.

It’s partners like this that make raising awareness of the issue of hunger possible. At Ozarks Food Harvest, we work every day to feed people across 28 Missouri counties, and community support is imperative to be able to grow much-needed food assistance programs.

Makeover sets Crimson House ahead of curve

Makeover sets Crimson House ahead of curve

July 10, 2015 in Agency Spotlight Major giving

During most of the week, the Girls Room at Crimson House is filled with chairs, tables and … girls. But twice a month, when the church hosts its C-Street Connect food pantry, it is filled with fresh food and volunteers.

Used as the cold food distribution center on pantry days, the room had been dark and dreary with insufficient lighting. Thanks to Keller Williams Real Estate, Crimson House was selected to benefit from its annual Red Day program. The room has been transformed with bright pink walls, uplifting messages and plenty of light.

Bart Brown: Donors share what motivates giving

April 30, 2015 in Bart's Hope Notes Harvest Time Newsletter

At Ozarks Food Harvest, we rely on you to support our mission with your valued donations. We’re grateful that year after year, you choose to continue to show compassion for people struggling with hunger.

While we have heard from some of you personally on why the mission of Transforming Hunger into Hope is so dear to your heart, we wanted to, on a larger scale, ask why you give to The Food Bank. This past fall we asked some of our most loyal and generous donors to participate in our 2014 Donor Survey, which consisted of three questions.
