Artists and community members came together this September for the most successful Empty Bowls yet. The third annual fundraiser held at Panera Bread raised $7,440, selling all 220 handcrafted bowls donated by nearly 60 local artists.
For the sixth year, Arvest Bank held its annual 1 Million Meals campaign to raise food and funds for local people who struggle with hunger. This year’s campaign at the Springfield and Nixa branches collected $3,125 and 1,662 pounds of food for Ozarks Food Harvest. The bank branch in Monett donated $447 to support its town’s Weekend Backpack Program.
Walmart’s nationwide Fight Hunger. Spark Change. initiative provided over $17 million to Feeding America food banks across the country. Ozarks Food Harvest was awarded $114,368 to fight hunger right here in the Ozarks.
Hilton Garden Inn employees are committed to helping their neighbors in need and keeping Springfield clean by volunteering to support multiple causes in the community.
Every month, Hilton staff sort and pack food at Ozarks Food Harvest, volunteer at a local children’s shelter or work to keep a portion of a Springfield highway and stream clean.
Each week, the neighbors surrounding Weller Community Church come together to provide fresh produce for people to take home to their families.
When Ozarks Food Harvest’s truck arrives at the Springfield church to drop off the produce, volunteers Emily and Ericka work with others sorting the fruits and vegetables to prepare for the day’s distribution.
During Lent, Ozarks Food Harvest asked area churches and community partners to collect fish in cans or pouches for the second annual Fish Drive, a food drive focused on donations of high-protein fish.
The eight churches and organizations that participated collected a total of 929 pounds of food — providing 774 meals for children, families and seniors in the Ozarks. This exceeded last year’s total by 360 pounds.
2.1 million meals served since the 17th annual fundraiser began
Nearly 60 area grocery stores partnered with Ozarks Food Harvest during the holiday season for the 17th annual Check Out Hunger, raising $31,763 for people in need across southwest Missouri.
This year’s campaign provided nearly 159,000 meals to children, families and seniors in the Ozarks.
Ozarks Food Harvest’s Glean Team began its third season on March 2 with volunteers preparing garden beds for crops at local community gardens.
Last season, volunteers gave over 1,400 hours planting and harvesting at area gardens and farms to provide nearly 23,000 pounds of fresh produce to children, families and seniors in need right here in the Ozarks.
