“Biggest Loser” Pound for Pound Challenge ends next month

April 19, 2011

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Just over a month remains in The Biggest Loser’s Pound for Pound Challenge benefiting Ozarks Food Harvest and other Feeding America® food banks.

Ozarks Food Harvest teamed up with the hit reality show in January to help Ozarkers shed pounds, while gaining pounds of food for those in need. To date, more than 50,000 pounds have been pledged for The Food Bank, and for every pound pledged at www.PFPChallenge.com through May 31, 11 cents will be donated to Ozarks Food Harvest.

The community food bank currently ranks 33 out of more than 200 food banks nationwide, and ranks number one in Missouri for the Pound for Pound Challenge. There are a total of 91 teams made up of 2,513 members pledging for Ozarks Food Harvest. CoxHealth’s team ranks number three in the nation with 817 members and 11,338 pounds pledged.

Nearly $5,000 was raised for Ozarks Food Harvest through last year’s Pound for Pound Challenge. The Food Bank’s goal is to double that amount. So far, a total of 50,438 pounds, or more than $5,500, has been pledged for Ozarks Food Harvest.

There is still time to pledge weight loss goals at www.PFPChallenge.com. A pledge to maintain a healthy weight provides five pounds of food for The Food Bank.
