Sen. Roy Blunt to visit Ozarks Food Harvest, sort food with volunteers
WHO: Sen. Roy Blunt is visiting Ozarks Food Harvest, the only food bank serving southwest Missouri, the week following Christmas.
WHAT: Sen. Blunt will participate in an afternoon volunteer session, alongside OFH volunteers, helping to inspect, sort and pack food donations that will be sent out across southwest Missouri to OFH’s partner pantries and feeding sites. Sen. Blunt will also visit a Boys & Girls Club in Joplin, Missouri. After volunteering, Sen. Blunt will be available for questions.

WHERE: Ozarks Food Harvest—The Food Bank, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave., Springfield, Missouri
WHY: Sen. Blunt’s visit is timely as upcoming January and February are peak demand months for Ozarks Food Harvest’s network of hunger-relief charities. As donations drop after the holiday season, people served by OFH report making tough choices to make ends meet. In fact, 69 percent of those served say they choose between paying for utilities and food.
