Dillon stores gives $5,000 to thanks to Bringing Hope to the Table campaign

August 30, 2007

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Dillons Stores’ annual hunger relief campaign, Bringing Hope to the Table, ran July 15 through July 28, donating $5,000 today to Ozarks Food Harvest, the only food bank serving 29 counties in southwest Missouri.

To show shoppers what brands were collaborating with Dillons and Ozarks Food Harvest, participating items were marked with pink Bringing Hope to the Table shelf tags. Items were also marked on the stores’ advertisements.

The hunger relief campaign included products made by Kellogg’s, Keebler, Kraft, Nabisco, Coca-Cola, Nestle USA, and brands represented by Acosta Sales and Marketing. Many of Kroger’s own corporate brands, including Private Selection items, were also included in the fundraising effort, according to The Kroger Co, of which Dillons is a subsidiary.

“Dillons’ two-week campaign invites customers every year to not only support America’s Second Harvest, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, but also their very own food bank right here in their own community, Ozarks Food Harvest,” Denise Gibson, OFH Development Director, said.

“Dillons has a long tradition of giving back to the communities we serve, especially when it comes to combating hunger,” said Sheila Lowrie, Dillon Stores Spokesperson. “Bringing Hope to the Table is a great opportunity for our customers, associates and vendor partners to join together and draw attention to the fight against hunger.”
