Ozarks Food Harvest participating in Feinstein Challenge

March 3, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Ozarks Food Harvest will participate in the 11th annual Feinstein Challenge March 1 – April 30, 2008, to receive a share of $1 million given away by Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Feinstein of the Feinstein Foundation.

The more monetary and food donations Ozarks Food Harvest receives during these two spring months, the more money The Food Bank is granted from Feinstein.

All participating non-profit hunger relief agencies throughout the country will get their share of the $1 million equal to their proportion of the total amount raised by all participants.

“Fighting hunger is a year-round challenge, but the Feinstein Foundation provides us with a special opportunity to increase awareness during an otherwise low-giving time of the year,”  said Denise Gibson, The Food Bank’s development director. “It also gives us the chance to challenge schools and businesses within our service area to become involved in this very important effort to fight hunger in our communities.”
