Grocer bringing hope to the table for Ozarks Food Harvest

July 18, 2007

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— As part of its continuing leadership in the fight against hunger, The Kroger Co. launched Bringing Hope to the Table, on July 15 to support more than 85 food banks nationwide. Locally, Dillons, a subsidiary of Kroger, is supporting the food bank of southwest Missouri, Ozarks Food Harvest. The food drive ends Saturday, July 28, 2007.

Every time a customer purchases participating items in Dillons stores though July 28, they’ll be supporting Ozarks Food Harvest. Participating items are marked with pink Bringing Hope to the Table shelf tags.

The hunger relief campaign includes products made by Kellogg’s, Keebler, Kraft, Nabisco, Coca-Cola, Nestle USA, and brands represented by Acosta Sales and Marketing. Many of Kroger’s own corporate brands, including Private Selection items, are also included in the fundraising effort, according to Kroger.

“Dillons’ two-week campaign invites customers to not only support America’s Second Harvest, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, but also their very own food bank right here in their own community, Ozarks Food Harvest,” Denise Gibson, OFH Development Director, said.

Last year’s Bringing Hope to the Table campaign brought in more than $6,220 and over 6,500 pounds of food to the food bank in Springfield.
