WHO:  Ozarks Food Harvest is receiving a large donation of poultry, thanks to Smart Chicken’s 11th annual Feed the Hungry campaign. Senator Roy Blunt will visit The Food Bank to support the donation.

WHAT:  The only food bank in southwest Missouri will utilize the 9,400 pounds of Smart Chicken® to help food pantries in the region serve groceries and meals to families in need this holiday season and after the New Year. Typically, the Smart Chicken donation ranges between 7,000 and 9,000 pounds.

WHEN:  Monday, Dec. 16 at 9:30 a.m.

WHERE:  Ozarks Food Harvest, O’Reilly Center for Hunger Relief, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave., Springfield

WHY:  Smart Chicken’s Feed the Hungry promotion donates one pound of poultry for every 10 pounds of product purchased at local grocery stores, including Price Cutter, Town & Country, Woods, Harter House and G & W stores.

“Protein-rich food items are at the top of our holiday wish list, so this gift comes at an ideal time for us,” said OFH Development Director Denise Gibson. “We are thankful for  Smart Chicken’s continued support of hunger relief here in the Ozarks.”
