13th annual Taste of SoMo food festival to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest
Participating restaurants will donate portion of proceeds to support hunger relief in southwest Missouri
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Downtown Springfield’s Taste of SoMo food festival will bring together more than 25 southwest Missouri restaurants on Saturday, June 22 at Park Central Square from 1 to 7 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds donated to Ozarks Food Harvest.
Admission to Taste of SoMo is free, and guests will be able to purchase food tickets to receive samples from a variety of restaurant booths. Tickets may also be donated to Ozarks Food Harvest. For every three tickets donated, The Food Bank will be able to provide four meals.
“This fun event celebrates southwest Missouri’s local food scene and helps raise funds for families in need,” said Denise Gibson, development and communication director at Ozarks Food Harvest. “We’re grateful for the Downtown Springfield Association’s (DSA) support of our mission to help the 1 in 5 children and 1 in 7 adults facing hunger in the Ozarks.”
Restaurants booths will be serving samples from 1- 5 p.m. while live music, food truck dining and beer will remain in the square until 7 p.m.
The DSA is also partnering with Ozarks Food Harvest for SoMo Restaurant Week from June 16-22 to celebrate local restaurant culture. Participating restaurants offering special lunch, dinner and dessert menu items will donate partial proceeds to The Food Bank for every meal purchased. This year, the DSA’s goal is to provide 10,000 meals for families in the Ozarks between SoMo Restaurant Week and the Taste of SoMo festival.
Last year, Taste of SoMo and SoMo Restaurant Week raised more than 7,300 meals for Ozarks Food Harvest. Taste of SoMo is managed by the DSA and presented by SGC Foodservice.
