American Egg Board hosts breakfast for Joplin

More than 50,000 eggs will be donated to Ozarks Food Harvest

WHAT:  America’s egg farmers will provide a free breakfast for the Joplin community on Saturday Aug. 20 at 6 a.m. and at 9 a.m. The American Egg Board will also make a donation of 54,000 eggs to Ozarks Food Harvest on Monday, Aug. 22.

WHERE:  Missouri Southern State University—Billingsly Student Center Ballroom, 3950 Newman Rd., Joplin

WHEN:  Saturday, Aug. 20, 6–8 a.m. & 9–11 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The American Egg Board will host a free community breakfast for Joplin tornado victims this Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Missouri Southern State University student center. Moark Eggs and America’s egg farmers are also donating 54,000 eggs to Ozarks Food Harvest, the food bank providing food to Joplin distribution sites weekly.

The donation and breakfast are part of the Good Egg Project, an initiative by America’s egg farmers to educate people about eggs and encourage hunger relief in the U.S. Host of the Cooking Channel’s “United Tastes of America,” Chef Jeffrey Sadd, will be present to teach attendees quick and easy egg recipes. Joplin community members can also sign the Good Egg Project pledge—“Eat good. Do good every day”—at the free breakfast event, and for every pledge made on-site one egg will be donated to Feeding America. The Incredible Egg Chair will also be available for photo opportunities.

The American Egg Board will deliver its donation of more than 50,000 eggs to Ozarks Food Harvest in Springfield on Monday, Aug. 22. Ozarks Food Harvest is serving more than 20 points of distribution in the Joplin area, where the eggs will be distributed along with other food pantries in southwest Missouri.
