Tea Bar & Bites Bakery and Café raises funds for OFH during Hunger Action Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Tea Bar & Bites Bakery and Café hosted an Apron Fashion Show, auctioning off donated hand-made or vintage aprons in a silent and live auction, to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest during Hunger Action Month. The Sept. 17 event collected $1,483 for The Food Bank — the equivalent of 7,415 meals, as every $1 donated to OFH provides five meals for those in need.

“We’re so lucky to have supporters like the good people at Tea Bar & Bites who help us spread awareness of the issue of hunger in our community — and who at the same time, take additional action whether that’s raising money or collecting food,” said Lindsey Neddenriep, public relations manager at Ozarks Food Harvest. “We can stretch donation dollars far to help people make a big impact in our region.”

The fundraiser was coordinated by Jaymee Bohanon of Tea Bar & Bites, with owner, Colleen Smith and Chef Marty Almaraz. The other businesses at Pickwick Place, Zen 3 and Pickwick Underground Framing, also donated their venue space for the special event. More than 50 pre-sale tickets were sold, with funds raised during the apron auction benefiting OFH.

Tea Bar & Bites is also hosting a food drive for Ozarks Food Harvest through the end of Hunger Action Month, this month, collecting nonperishable donations from patrons and community members. If you or your business would like to host a Hunger Action Month event for Ozarks Food Harvest next September, please contact Madeline Brown in advance at (417) 865-3411.
