Rep. Blunt announces donation to OFH from Target

November 11, 2009

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Congressman Roy Blunt along with Target team members presented a $5,000 donation from Target to Ozarks Food Harvest today at The Food Bank in North Springfield. The funding will enable Ozarks Food Harvest to distribute an additional $50,000 worth of food items for The Food Bank’s Feeding Families Initiative, according to Ozarks Food Harvest’s President/CEO Bart Brown.

“Since opening our first stores in 1962, Target has partnered with non-profit organizations, guests and team members to help meet community needs,” said Target spokesperson Sarah Boehle. “Target is proud to partner with Ozarks Food Harvest to provide food to families who need it most across the Ozarks region.”

Target has partnered with Feeding America since 2001 to donate grocery items, expanding the partnership in 2006 with disaster preparedness and product donation of personal care and household items. Ozarks Food Harvest is a Feeding America member food bank. Target donated more than 16 million pounds of food in 2008, providing meals to those in need, according to the Target Corporation.

“At this time of unprecedented need, we are truly grateful for support from community-minded businesses such as Target,” said Bart Brown. “We’re extremely appreciative of our newest Feeding Families partner.”

Wednesday was Congressman Blunt’s first tour of Ozarks Food Harvest’s new facility in the North Creek Business Park in North Springfield, Mo.
