Dillon Stores, KTTS 94.7 FM, and Power 95.6 FM team up to “Check Out Hunger” with a community food drive to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— With challenges in today’s economy, hunger relief organizations have reported an increased demand for assistance and this holiday season is expected to be especially tough for families across the state.  In recognition of the acute need, Dillon Stores, KTTS 94.7 FM, and Power 96.5 FM have teamed up with the only food bank in southwest Missouri, Ozarks Food Harvest, for a community food drive in conjunction with the nonprofit’s “Check Out Hunger” holiday fundraising campaign in which shoppers can add a $1 tax-free donation to their grocery bills.

Holiday Food Drive:

  • November 6–December 31
  • Dillons makes it easy to lend a helping hand:
    • Purchase pre-made bag full of holiday staples for $5 or $10
    • Ask your Dillon’s cashier to add a donation to your grocery total at the register
    • Donate loose change or bills at the register with coin-boxes
    • Drop-off any nonperishable food donations at collection bins
  • All area Dillons locations will participate, including stores in Joplin and Springfield

“We’re proud to continue to count on our friends at Dillons, KTTS 94.7 and Power 96.5 for their talents and resources to help raise awareness to food insecurity and the needs of our neighbors,” said Bart Brown, president & CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest.  “Unfortunately, the outlook for this year will be similar to what we have seen in the recent past with exceedingly large numbers of people seeking our help.  Thanks to this food drive and the generosity of our community, Ozarks Food Harvest will be able to extend a helping hand.”
