Feinstein Foundation helps The Food Bank with donation

July 15, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Through the Feinstein Foundation, a national organization fighting hunger, Ozarks Food Harvest was awarded $1,141 for its participation in the 11th annual Feinstein Challenge.

This is the seventh year The Food Bank has taken part in the challenge. The grant money will be used to cover everyday operating expenses, especially the rising cost in fuel for food distribution trucks.

The Feinstein Challenge is an annual incentive for hunger fighting agencies to raise money.  Agencies across the U.S. were urged to collect money towards the challenge between March 1st and April 30th of this year. When the challenge was complete and all of the agencies had reported what they had collected, the Foundation divided up $1 million of its own money proportionately among agencies taking part.

During the past 11 years and through the Feinstein Challenge, The Feinstein Foundation has raised $760 million dollars for agencies nationwide. This is the most successful grassroots campaign against hunger of all time.
