Get lost in the corn “Maize” to support The Food Bank

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The infamous Verona labyrinth, The MAiZE, announces 100% of all opening day celebration ticket sales to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest on September 20, 2008 from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Visitors can get lost in the corn and enjoy an entire day of family friendly events in Missouri’s first original corn maze.

The MAiZE celebrates its 10th puzzling season with an intricate design that continues to challenge visitors each year.  The MAiZE is a collaborated effort of the GRIP Boys Home in Verona, Mo.  The boys in the program help design, develop and maintain this impressive maze of more than seven acres of corn.

Opening day celebration activities will include a Strongman competition, a live performance by Bright Water Junction bluegrass band and wholesome activities for everyone.  Visitors can enjoy hay rides, a cow train, pumpkin chuckin’, a corn cannon and a hillbilly shootout you won’t want to miss.

This year’s opening day festivities will kick-off at 12:00 pm with the following itinerary:

12:00 pm              Corn Maize opens.   All games will be begin, including corn cannon, pumpkin chuckin’, hillbilly shooting range, cow train, backwoods battle boxing, petting zoo and hay ride.

2:00 pm                Pie eating contest.

4:00 pm                Strongman competition.

6:00 pm                Bright Water Junction performs.

Sundown             Fireworks show.

Admission cost is $6 for ages 12 and up, $4 for ages 5-11, and free for veterans and military with ID and kids 4 and under.  For ticket information or to make group reservations, call 417-498-6191.
