September 11, 2006

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— On Monday, September 18, Ozarks Food Harvest will host its annual Agency Relations Conference at the Clarion Hotel, 3333 South Glenstone.

The conference, titled, “Transforming Hunger into Hope,” will feature sessions that will help Ozarks Food Harvest’s agencies learn more about hunger and poverty issues, advocacy, fundraising, grant writing, federal nutrition programs and social welfare in Missouri.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the general session starts at 9:00 a.m.  The conference will conclude at 3:30 p.m.

“We are very excited to have in attendance staff and volunteers from each of our 320 agencies who represent a 35 county service area.  We welcome anyone who has an interest in alleviating hunger and poverty in our community,” Jan Tucker, Ozarks Food Harvest Director of Agency Relations, said.

In addition to the workshops, new this year is an “Open House,” a show-and-tell display room for agencies to share ideas with others.

“This is a once-a-year opportunity for those working on the front lines of hunger relief every day to have the chance to network with each other, and share their experiences as well as gain new knowledge,” Bart Brown, Executive Director of The Food Bank, said.
