WHAT:  OZARKS FOOD HARVEST’S 8^TH ANNUAL HUNGERTHON

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Ozarks Food Harvest’s 8^th Annual HUNGERTHON is Friday, June 2 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, June 5 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Ozarks Food Harvest will be on the air on Alice@95.5 to spread awareness about hunger and raise money to end hunger in Southwest Missouri and North Central Arkansas.

Past Hungerthon telethons have collectively raised more than $300,000 for The Food Bank. Last year, HUNGERTHON 2005 brought in over $77,000 in pledges for Ozarks Food Harvest, making it The Food Bank’s most successful HUNGERTHON to date. For the 3^rd year in a row, Springfield Independent Restaurant Association (SIRA) will team up with Ozarks Food Harvest and Alice@95.5 to the help make HUNGERTHON 2006 a great success again this year. As part of hourly “Power Hour” features during HUNGERTHON, local independent restaurants will make challenge grants to listeners and give away gift certificates to the highest donors each hour to further motivate listeners to make a pledge.

During HUNGERTHON 2006 listeners can call the pledge-line at (417) 577-7955 on June 2 through June 5 to make a donation and support Ozarks Food Harvest’s vital hunger relief efforts, such as Food for Thought ^TM children’s backpack feeding program. Listeners can also pledge online at or drop by the Historic Tower Theatre during HUNGERTHON 2006 to make their donation and meet their favorite on-air celebrities.
