Hy-Vee’s fundraiser helps support Feeding America food banks across their eight-state region

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Hy-Vee donated food to provide nearly 14,000 meals to Ozarks Food Harvest on April 11 to kick off their Food Bank Fridays fundraiser to help support Feeding America food banks.

Food Bank Fridays refers to Hy-Vee’s Friday social media updates that show how donations are helping food banks across their region. Customers may participate by visiting in-store or at hy-vee.com to make a $1 or $5 donation toward their local Feeding America food bank. The campaign will run daily at Hy-Vee stores for the next several months.

“This gift from Hy-Vee comes at a great time as folks in our community continue to experience increased prices for food, fuel and housing,” said Bart Brown, president/CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. “We appreciate Hy-Vee’s commitment to their community and helping us Transform Hunger into Hope in the Ozarks.”

Hy-Vee currently partners with 17 Feeding America food banks across its eight-state region to distribute food and supplies to families facing hunger.

“At Hy-Vee, food insecurity is an issue that we are deeply connected to,” said Tim Michael, Hy-Vee district vice president. “Working with Feeding America-affiliated food banks like Ozarks Food Harvest allows us to do that because of their ability to distribute food and turn a $1 donation into $10 worth of groceries.”

One in 5 children and 1 in 6 adults face hunger across The Food Bank’s 28-county service area.
