“Cans for Coffee” Gets Added Boost With 18-ton Tyson Donation

Ozarks Food Harvest receives 36,000 pounds of food in support of ongoing food

WHO:  Representatives from Tyson Foods, Inc., McDonald’s and Ozarks Food Harvest will be available for photo opportunities.

WHAT:  With help from Tyson Foods, McDonald’s restaurants of the Ozarks, KOLR 10 and KSFX, Ozarks Food Harvest will receive 18 tons of protein.

WHEN:  Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 11 a.m.

WHERE:  Ozarks Food Harvest Warehouse, 2810 N. Cedar Brook, Springfield, Mo                 

WHY:  The event is significant because:

  • “Cans for Coffee” is a partnership between Ozarks Food Harvest and McDonald’s of the Ozarks to raise food items for the food bank. When customers donate a non-perishable food item they will receive any small coffee for free, including the new McCafé® espresso coffees.
  • Ozarks Food Harvest serves 29 counties in Missouri and distributes 7 million pounds of food annually.
  • For nine years, Tyson has strengthened its ongoing commitment to be a leader and supporter of hunger-relief initiatives. Since 2000, the company has donated more than 68 million pounds of protein products to more than 950 hunger-relief agencies nationwide.
