McDonald’s Cans for Coffee begins Nov. 1

October 27, 2010

For the third year, McDonald’s of the Ozarks is giving away free coffee for donations to The Food Bank

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— McDonald’s locations across the Ozarks will host the third annual Cans for Coffee food drive November 1–21, offering customers one free small McCafé® Mocha, Latte, Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate, Premium Roast Coffee or Iced Coffee in exchange for a donation of a non-perishable food item for Ozarks Food Harvest.

Cans for Coffee promotions in 2008 and 2009 together collected more than 35,000 pounds of food for Ozarks Food Harvest—the only food bank in southwest Missouri which serves 28 Ozarks counties.

“We are very excited to once again partner with Ozarks Food Harvest to support our local communities,” said Jay Herrin, president of the McDonald’s franchise association in the Ozarks. “In this season of Thanksgiving, we developed our Cans for Coffee food drive to encourage our customers to join us in helping those in need in their communities.”

Participants are to bring non-perishable food donations to the front counter or drive-thru window of any local McDonald’s restaurant to receive one free small McCafé® coffee or hot chocolate of their choice. A total of 60 local McDonald’s restaurants are participating in this year’s event. All food donations will be collected and distributed to The Food Bank’s network of more than 300 hunger relief organizations in southwest Missouri. The remaining 12 stores’ collections will go to Feeding America® food banks in central Missouri and central and northwest Arkansas.

KOLR 10 & KSFX Ozarks FOX are the official media sponsors of Cans for Coffee. Participating locations are listed at ozarksfoodharvest.org.
