McDonald’s Coffee for a Cause will help provide meals for people facing hunger

November 7, 2018

McDonald’s of the Ozarks locations will donate 25 cents of every cup of coffee purchased to The Food Bank

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — McDonald’s restaurants across the Ozarks are donating 25 cents from each cup of McCafe Coffee purchased Nov. 10-16 to Ozarks Food Harvest. Every cup of coffee will help provide one meal for families in need during the holidays.

Twenty-six local McDonald’s will participate in Coffee for a Cause to support Ozarks Food Harvest, which distributes 17 million meals annually across its network of 270 food pantries and hunger-relief programs in 28 counties. Participating stores include Battlefield; Bolivar; Marshfield; Mount Vernon; Nixa; both stores in Ozark; Republic; Rogersville; all 15 stores in Springfield; Strafford; and Willard.

“We are so humbled and proud to be able to give back to the communities we serve in such a big way! Our crew and customers alike are the most kind and generous people,” said Teresa McGeehan, local Springfield-area McDonald’s owner/operator. “Together, we hope to make a substantial impact to help our neighbors in need as we approach the holiday season.”

Each store can donate up to $1,000 to The Food Bank, which will help provide thousands of meals to children, families and seniors in need.

From 2008 to 2017, McDonald’s of the Ozarks hosted the fundraiser Cans for Coffee which collected more than 215,000 meals for food insecure individuals in the Ozarks.

“Our partnership with local McDonald’s stores has provided so many meals—and so much hope—to thousands of people over the years,” said Denise Gibson, development and communication director at Ozarks Food Harvest. “We’re incredibly thankful for the store operators and customers who continue to help support their hungry neighbors.”
