O’Reilly Auto awards Ozarks Food Harvest expansion gift

August 1, 2006

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— O’Reilly Auto Parts and the O’Reilly Family Foundation granted The Food Bank $2,500 this month to help expand its child feeding programs such as Kids Cafe® and Food for Thought TM.

Ozarks Food Harvest currently operates 16 Kids Cafe® after-school feeding sites, feeding 1,000 children each night of the school year. “It would not be possible to provide children with year round meals without our partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest,” Calvin Allen, President of the Springfield Community Center, said.

The Food Bank also operates the Food for Thought TM program in 16 area schools. This weekend backpack feeding program for extremely at-risk children is vital to ensure that children have food to bridge the gap between Friday’s lunch and Monday’s breakfast. Ozark County nurse, Kris Williams, said, “The Food for Thought TM program is literally saving children’s lives.”

O’Reilly Auto Parts’ gift is Transforming Hunger Into Hope TM by helping Ozarks Food Harvest expand its distribution to feed more hungry children in the Ozarks.
