Ozarks Food Harvest Brings Santa to Children in Need

December 18, 2008

The Food Bank’s staff & Representative Charlie Norr make Christmas possible for children in Hollister

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Today Ozarks Food Harvest staff will travel bearing food, gifts, and Santa Claus to surprise children in the Kids Café® program at Hollister Elementary at 3:00 p.m.  Representative Charlie Norr will be accompanying the staff for a special Santa surprise.

The Hollister Kids Café® (an Ozarks Food Harvest program), provides 40 children, who might otherwise go home hungry, with a warm evening meal.

After seeing the need in this area, The Food Bank’s staff dedicated their holiday party funds and resources to make sure that these children have a very special Christmas.  The staff has provided the food for a Christmas dinner as well as gift bags filled with goodies like books, gloves, blankets, and necessities like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap.

The staff will play games, read books, and share the Christmas meal with the children.  Activities will begin at 3:00 pm with dinner following at 4:00 pm.  Representative Norr, “Santa Claus,” will arrive at 4:15 pm to surprise each child with their special gift.

The Hollister Kids Café is located within Hollister Elementary at 1798 State Rd. BB in Hollister, Mo.
