Ozarks Food Harvest honors volunteer for contribution to garden programs
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Ozarks Food Harvest recently honored volunteer Kacey Davis with the third annual Golden Gleaners Award for contributing over 200 hours of service with Ozarks Food Harvest’s Full Circle Gardens Glean Team and at The Food Bank’s warehouse.
Kacey has been involved with The Food Bank’s Glean Team since the early days of the Full Circle Gardens program in 2015. She helps plant and harvest produce from Ozarks Food Harvest’s farm and partner farms to be distributed to The Food Bank’s network of faith and community-based charities.
“I enjoy volunteering with the Glean Team so much!” Kacey shared. “I love all the hard work we put into the gardens and seeing the wonderful produce we harvest. I enjoy meeting new and interesting people, and [the staff] make it a fun atmosphere for us all. The Full Circle Gardens is vital to our community, and it gives me great joy knowing that our seniors and families are receiving nutritious fresh produce directly from the gardens.”
The Golden Gleaners Award is given annually to a volunteer who has shown outstanding contribution to Ozarks Food Harvest’s Full Circle Gardens program.
“Kacey brings a wonderful, joyful, can-do attitude,” said Alexa Poindexter, director of Full Circle Gardens at Ozarks Food Harvest. “We’ve been so lucky to work alongside her at our farm and at many of our partnering gardens for years.”
Ozarks Food Harvest currently needs volunteers to join the Glean Team in harvesting produce at The Food Bank’s farm in Rogersville and at local partner farms.
