Ozarks Food Harvest leverages Musgrave Foundation gift to $1.2M

More than a dozen Food Bank partners receive awards, ceremony held at Drury University to kick off “Clash of Cans” in conjunction with announcement

WHO:  Sixteen Ozarks Food Harvest member agencies in Greene, Christian and Webster Counties are receiving awards, thanks to a gift from the Musgrave Foundation, including:

  • Ash Grove Assembly of God
  • Ash Grove Food Pantry
  • Bread of Life food pantry at Marshfield Christian Church (Webster)
  • Cents of Pride
  • Crosslines
  • C-Street Connect Food Pantry at Crimson House
  • Drury Emergency Fund for Food
  • Hand Extended Food Pantry
  • Kings Food Pantry–Seymour (Webster)
  • Least of These–Nixa (Christian)
  • Salvation Army
  • Springfield Community Center
  • Springfield Victory Mission
  • Joseph Catholic Church–Billings (Christian)
  • Joseph Catholic Church–Springfield
  • Well of Life Food Pantry at Center City Christian Outreach

WHAT:  The Musgrave Foundation is granting a total of $120,000 to select Ozarks Food Harvest partners. The funding will be utilized for food for local hunger-relief efforts. The regional food bank, the umbrella organization of more than 200 pantries and programs, will leverage the $120,000 to $1.2 million in food distribution.

WHEN:  Friday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m.

WHERE:  Drury University Findlay Student Center Ballroom, Drury Lane, Springfield, Mo.

WHY:  The ceremony is hosted at Drury, as students are kicking off a “Clash of Cans” can-structure event to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest. At this news conference, students will pledge the number of pounds they plan to collect by Feb. 18. Drury alumni are also challenged to participate during the Feb. 21 Homecoming games by bringing nonperishable food donations to the O’Reilly Family Event Center.

VISUAL:  A mock can-structure will be on display during the event. Representatives from all agencies will be present to accept checks from Musgrave board members. Drury President Dr. David Manuel will attend.
