Nearly $6,000 awarded to OFH from Feinstein Foundation

August 9, 2006

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Ozarks Food Harvest’s participation in the ninth annual Feinstein Challenge earned The Food Bank a $5,612 grant this past month.

The Feinstein Foundation, based out of Rhode Island, challenges hunger relief charities nationwide to earn as much of its annual $1 million giveaway to fight hunger. Nationally, anti-hunger agencies informed donors that the larger donation made – from March 1 to April 30 – the more Feinstein money would be added to their donations. Founder Alan Shawn Feinstein divided the million dollars among all the participating hunger fighting agencies.

The grand total raised from the Feinstein Challenge is a new record – $159 million from over 1,500 participating charities. According to The Feinstein Foundation, this has become the most successful campaign of all time to fight hunger in America.

“This event is one of our most important fundraising opportunities of the year, so we appreciate what the people in our community have done for us. They helped bring our share of these funds to the Ozarks,” Denise Gibson, OFH Director of Development and Communications, said.
