Ozarks Food Harvest sets fundraising goal of $60,000 for Giving Tuesday
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —Ozarks Food Harvest has set a fundraising goal of $60,000 for Giving Tuesday to help provide food for families facing hunger this holiday season.
Giving Tuesday is an international day of charitable giving that encourages people to commit to an act of generosity. Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, this year’s Giving Tuesday will take place on Nov. 28.
Community members can support The Food Bank by donating through its website or Facebook fundraiser on Nov. 28. Ozarks Food Harvest’s fundraising goal of $60,000 will help provide more than 240,000 meals to children, families and seniors in the Ozarks. A-1 Guarantee Roofing and Feeding Missouri will be matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000.
“In the last two months, we served more than 70,000 people; that’s 20,000 more than during the height of the COVID crisis,” said Bart Brown, president/CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. “The best way to help this season is with a donation because 96 cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to providing food to families in need.
Since 2014, Ozarks Food Harvest has raised more than $360,000 through Giving Tuesday campaigns to help provide more than 1.4 million meals to families experiencing hunger in the Ozarks.
In southwest Missouri, 1 in 7 children and adults face hunger, meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from. Ozarks Food Harvest reaches 60,000 individuals monthly and provides more than 20 million meals annually across its 28-county service area.
