Ozarks Food Harvest sets goal to raise $15,000 on Give Ozarks Day

March 23, 2021

Funds raised will help provide food for families facing hunger across the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Ozarks Food Harvest has set a goal to raise $15,000 as part of Give Ozarks Day on March 24 to help provide food for families facing hunger during COVID-19.

Give Ozarks Day is a regionwide online giving day presented by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and Bass Pro Shops. The day offers nonprofits the chance to raise operating funds to help sustain their work after a year of fundraising cancellations, financial challenges and program disruptions, often coupled with an increased need for services during the pandemic.

“COVID-19 has presented a perfect storm of increased demand, declines in donations of food and disruptions to the supply chain,” said Denise Gibson, Ozarks Food Harvest’s director of development and communication. “We’re so grateful to participate in Give Ozarks Day as we can take your $1 donation and turn it into $10 worth of groceries for a family in the Ozarks.”

Ozarks Food Harvest is the largest COVID-19 related donor to charities in southwest Missouri. Since April 2020, Ozarks Food Harvest has hosted more than 115 Mobile Food Pantries, purchased an additional $3.6 million worth of food and provided a record-breaking 22 million meals for its network of 270 hunger-relief organizations.

The Food Bank continues to purchase food every month without regard to cost to ensure their network of 270 hunger-relief organizations don’t struggle to keep food on their shelves. In southwest Missouri, an estimated 1 in 5 children and 1 in 7 adults face food insecurity.

Making a secure online donation is simple. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 24, donors can go to causemomentum.org/projects/feeding-the-future to make a credit-card donation. For each donor to its Feeding the Future project, Ozarks Food Harvest will have a chance to win one of the $5,000 prizes provided every hour by event sponsors. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS.
