Ozarks Food Harvest to raise funds for COVID-19 hunger relief on #GivingTuesdayNow

May 1, 2020

Funds raised will support The Food Bank’s COVID-19 response to provide more meals in the community

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—On May 5, Ozarks Food Harvest will participate in #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global campaign focused on unity and response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

All donations made to Ozarks Food Harvest during #GivingTuesdayNow will count toward The Food Bank’s 1 Million Meals in 90 Days campaign. The campaign will help fund the increased demand for food assistance for families struggling to make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Cook Family Foundation, every gift up to $50,000 made on #GivingTuesdayNow will be tripled. With this match, a donation of just $1 will help provide $30 worth of groceries to families across The Food Bank’s 28 county service area in southwest Missouri. The Food Bank has set a goal to raise $25,000 that day.

Community members can support Ozarks Food Harvest by donating through its website using the COVID-19 Hope Fund designation on the dropdown menu or through its Facebook fundraiser on May 5.

“Our hunger-relief partners are working so hard to meet the increased need, and we’re distributing food through multiple Mobile Food Pantries each week,” said Bart Brown, president/CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. “We’ve already purchased $700,000 worth of food since March, and your continued support will help us provide even more in the coming months.”

More than 1,000 families received boxes of fresh produce, meat, dairy and nonperishable food products at The Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry distributions in April, and thousands more are visiting their network of food pantries for assistance on a daily basis.

To make a donation to Ozarks Food Harvest on May 5, visit ozarksfoodharvest.org/donate and select “COVID-19 Hope Fund” from the dropdown menu.
