Smart Chicken donating thousands of pounds of poultry

December 18, 2014

WHO:  Ozarks Food Harvest is receiving a large donation of frozen chicken, thanks to Smart Chicken’s 12th annual Feed the Hungry campaign.

WHAT:  The only food bank in southwest Missouri will utilize the nearly 6,000 pounds of Smart Chicken® to help food pantries in the region serve groceries and meals to families in need this holiday season and after the new year. This annual donation has ranged from 5,000 to 9,000 pounds.

WHEN:  Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.

WHERE:   Ozarks Food Harvest—The Food Bank, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave., Springfield, Mo.

WHY:  Smart Chicken’s Feed the Hungry promotion donates one pound of poultry for every 10 pounds of product purchased during November at southwest Missouri grocers, including Food 4 Less, G & W Foods, Harter House, Price Cutter, Town & Country Supermarket and Woods Supermarket.

“Meat is one of our most needed food donations, especially during these colder months, so this gift is coming at a great time for us,” said OFH Development Director Denise Gibson. “We are thankful for this protein-rich donation and also appreciate the continued support from Smart Chicken during the holidays each year.”
