Smart Chicken gifts protein to Ozarks Food Harvest just in time for the holidays

WHO: Ozarks Food Harvest is receiving a large donation of frozen chicken, thanks to Smart Chicken’s 14th annual Feed the Hungry campaign.

WHAT: The Food Bank will utilize the 6,700 pounds of Smart Chicken to help its member agencies across the Ozarks provide healthy and protein-rich meals to children, families and seniors in need this holiday season and after the new year.

WHEN: Monday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Ozarks Food Harvest—The Food Bank, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave., Springfield, Mo.

WHY: Smart Chicken’s Feed the Hungry promotion donates one pound of poultry for every 10 pounds of product purchased in November at southwest Missouri grocers including Country Mart, Food 4 Less, Harter House, Price Cutter and Woods Supermarket.

“Meat is one of our most needed items at The Food Bank,” said Bart Brown, president/CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. “For the past fourteen years, it’s been a blessing to receive a donation from Smart Chicken. This will allow us to provide nutritious, high-quality protein to families struggling with hunger in the Ozarks.”
