Steak ‘n Shake gives back to the community
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Steak ‘n Shake donated 1,054 pounds of steak burger patties to Ozarks Food Harvest this month.
For every $5 in gift cards sold from November 1 through December 24, 2007, Steak ‘n Shake pledged to donate one steak burger patty to Ozarks Food Harvest.
“Unfortunately, donations of food items rich in protein are rare, so we’re really grateful for this annual partnership,” Lindsey Neddenriep, the food bank’s public relations coordinator said.
Ozarks Food Harvest distributes food to 325 hunger relief organizations, reaching more than 41,000 people each month in 29 southwest Missouri counties.
The Food Bank distributes nearly five million pounds of food annually to its network of agencies, and also offers direct relief through its Kids Cafe, Food for Thought, Club F.U.N. and Mobile Food Pantry programs.
