SWMO egg farmers donate 150,000 eggs to OFH just in time for Easter

SWMO egg farmers donate 150,000 eggs to OFH just in time for Easter

April 1, 2014

WHO:  Moark, LLC, Land O’Lakes’ wholly-owned egg subsidiary, is helping food insecure people in the Ozarks by donating — 12,600 cartons of eggs — or 151,200 eggs to the regional food bank, Ozarks Food Harvest.

WHAT:  Fresh eggs are a prized item for Ozarks Food Harvest due to their dense nutritional and high protein content, but they are also one of the hardest food categories for food banks to acquire.

WHEN:  Tuesday, April 8 at 10 a.m.

WHERE:  Ozarks Food Harvest, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave, Springfield, Mo.

WHY:  Families across Ozarks Food Harvest’s 28-county service area continue to struggle to put food on the table. About 170,000 unduplicated people are served by OFH’s network of 200 pantries and programs each year — that’s one in six people, or one in four children who are food insecure. This year’s donation from SWMO egg farmers is more than double the size of last year’s gift of 72,000 eggs.
