Two Weeks Remain in Annual Feinstein Challenge

April 13, 2006

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. The Feinstein Challenge ends the last day of April! Ozarks Food Harvest is participating in the Feinstein Challenge and they need your help to make it a success.  Each year the Feinstein Foundation challenges anti-hunger charities nationally to earn as much of its annual $1 million grant as possible, and it’s based on how many donations we can raise. With just a little over 2 weeks left, Ozarks Food Harvest needs the entire community’s help to qualify for as much money from the Feinstein Foundation as possible!

“This event is one of our most important fundraising opportunities of the year, and we really appreciate what the people in our community have done for us in the past. We depend on them to make this event a success and to bring our share of these funds to the Ozarks,” commented Denise Gibson, Director of Development for Ozarks Food Harvest.

According to the U.S. census more than 14% of people living in 35 counties served by Springfield’s Food Bank live in poverty. With every $1 donated, Ozarks Food Harvest, can distribute $10 dollars worth of food to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, senior citizen meal sites, and children’s after-school and weekend backpack feeding programs.

During the challenge period every cash, check or food donation we receive will be calculated and reported to the Feinstein Foundation. Please drop off or mail your donations to 615 N. Glenstone, Springfield, MO 65802 and help us transform hunger in our community into hope!
