Park Central Square fountain will also “Light Up Orange”

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The University Plaza Hotel is joining buildings across the nation to “Light Up Orange” this September, during Hunger Action Month, to help shed light on the critical issue food banks like Ozarks Food Harvest fight daily.

Locally, the regional food bank, Ozarks Food Harvest — and its network of 250 member pantries and kitchens — serve 170,000 food insecure people in southwest Missouri each year.

“University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center is proud to ‘light up orange’ during Hunger Action Month,” General Manager Robert Henley said. “Trying to make a difference every day in the community is a fundamental pillar of the John Q. Hammons legacy of excellence.”

The Urban Districts Alliance is also programming the LED lights in the fountain at Park Central Square to “Light Up Orange” during Hunger Action Month. The goal is to help Ozarks Food Harvest encourage community members to “Speak Out Against Hunger,” this year’s theme.
