Country music superstar Brad Paisley’s Virtual Reality World Tour 2012 is coming to Springfield on Feb. 25 and will help feed those in need by collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for Ozarks Food Harvest.
Panera Bread will select four menu items one day each month beginning Feb. 24, and will donate a set amount per featured item to Ozarks Food Harvest. Cafes in Springfield, Branson and Joplin will participate in donating proceeds.
Ozarks Food Harvest was recently honored as only the sixth Feeding America food bank of more than 200 in the nation to achieve international food safety certification by the American Institute of Baking International.
The Missouri Food Bank Association (MFBA) named its new officers last month, electing Bart Brown as president. Bart Brown is the president/CEO at Ozarks Food Harvest.
Two local foundations awarded a total of $200,000 to 16 member agencies of Ozarks Food Harvest over the past couple of weeks. By working through Ozarks Food Harvest, the charities’ dollars will leverage $10 worth of food distribution for every dollar donated, meaning the gifts from the Slusher and Musgrave Foundations will result in $2 million worth of food distributed to southwest Missourians in need.
The Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation is granting gifts totaling $100,000 to seven nonprofit organizations in the Greene County area at a press conference at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Ozarks Food Harvest.
The Roy W. Slusher Foundation is making sizeable grants, totaling $100,000, to nearly one dozen Stone and Taney County nonprofits at a press conference at the Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout.
Starting Sunday, Jan. 22, all ten Springfield–Greene County Libraries and the mobile library will accept non-perishable food as payment for overdue book fines during regular business hours for one week.
Shoppers have until Dec. 31 to Check-out Hunger for Ozarks Food Harvest at 60 participating area grocers.
Smart Chicken will donate nearly 7,000 pounds of frozen chicken to Ozarks Food Harvest tomorrow. This is the ninth consecutive year Smart Chicken held the Feed the Hungry promotion.
